Part Number Consolidation FAQ: Power-Strut® & Unistrut®

How OEMs Can Achieve Metal Framing Supply Chain Predictability Partnering With Unistrut Service Company Reading Part Number Consolidation FAQ: Power-Strut® & Unistrut® 6 minutes

1.  Why are you consolidating part numbers between Power-Strut® and Unistrut®?
We’re simplifying our product catalog to improve operational efficiency for our customers and reduce complexity in ordering. By consolidating our inventory, we anticipate enhanced inventory availability and improved service consistency across our distribution network.

2.  What does this mean for my current ordering process?
You will begin to see consolidated part numbers in our systems. In most cases, your “Power-Strut®” part numbers will be replaced by the standardized part number, which is currently the “Unistrut®” part numbers. By August 4th of 2025 all systems will need to be updated to reflect the new standardized part numbers. Legacy part numbers from Power-Strut® will be retired as we move to a unified product identification system under the Unistrut® part numbers. To support you in this transition, we will provide detailed cross-reference documentation and assistance to help update your item masters and ordering templates. It is our top priority to ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to your ordering process.

3.  Will I still be able to order the same products?
Yes. The physical products are not changing—only the product data (part number, description, & UPC) will change for Power-Strut®. You will still receive the same high-quality Atkore products.

4.  What will the labels look like?
Future state the labels will feature the standardized part number in the center, with a line underneath to reference the legacy Power-Strut® number.

5.  What happens if I submit an order with the old part number?
We will continue to support orders submitted using the legacy Power-Strut® part numbers during a 60-day transition period ending on 8/5/2025. Thereafter when ordering products, our systems will automatically map them to the new standardized part numbers. This will create a receiving issue if the new data and UPCs are not uploaded to your systems.

6.  Will UPC codes change?
Yes, for Power-Strut®. Because UPC codes are mapped one-to-one with part numbers, the Unistrut® UPCs will continue and the Power-Strut® UPCs will update to match the Unistrut® UPCs. We will provide updated UPC data to ensure your internal systems remain accurate.

7.  How will this affect EDI orders?
We recognize that EDI integrations rely heavily on consistent part number and UPC mappings. We will be proactively reaching out to support your team with updated item master files. We’ll also request that a vendor number be transmitted on every 850 PO to clearly outline the brand being ordered. Please update your EDI map to send the vendor code via the REF02 field with qualifier “IA” in REF01.

8.  Will I need to update my internal systems or item masters?
Yes, if you currently have Power-Strut® information. We will provide clear cross-reference documentation to help you update your systems. Our teams are also available to assist with any other data that may be needed to convert.

9.  How does this affect inventory availability or shipping?
We anticipate that inventory availability will improve, as consolidation allows us to streamline SKUs and improve stock allocation across our network.

10.  Will pricing change?
No immediate pricing changes will occur due to part number consolidation- the pricing for Unistrut® and Power-Strut will continue to be synonymous with one another. Any future pricing adjustments will follow standard communication protocols.

11.  Are Unistrut® and Power-Strut® channels and fittings manufactured to the same material specifications and load-bearing standards?

Unistrut® channel is made from ASTM A1011 SS (Structural Steel) Grade 33 steel with beam and column loads based on the 2013 Edition of AISI’s Cold-Formed Steel Specification. Unistrut® fittings are made from steel conforming to A575, A576, A635, A1011 SS GR 33, A1011 HSLAS GR 45 or A36. Except for A36, all steel also conforms to A1011 SS Grade 33 physical requirements. 12.  Will there still be separate Power-Strut® and Unistrut® catalogs and marketing materials?

Yes, we will continue to offer separate Power-Strut® and Unistrut® catalogs and marketing materials to support brand recognition and customer preference. However, both will include the same standardized part numbers and product information to ensure consistency and alignment across all materials.

13. Currently there are some products that are only related to one brand. Will Power-Strut® and Unistrut® offer the same product lines?

Yes. Going forward, the Power-Strut® and Unistrut® product lines will be synonymous. This alignment ensures broader product availability and greater flexibility for all customers, regardless of which brand you traditionally purchase from.

Currently for 20 ft channels there is a difference in bundle quantity by brand. Future state there will be two options for quantity so that you can keep ordering the legacy bundle quantities. This only affects 20ft channels.

15.  How will product returns be handled under the dual branding initiative?
There will be no change to our current returns process. We will continue to follow the existing return policies for both Unistrut and Power-Strut products, ensuring a smooth experience for customers during the transition.

16.  What is changing with the product stamping?
We’re updating our product stamping to reflect both the Unistrut and Power-Strut brand names—reinforcing our continued support for both. As part of this update, we’ve also removed the Prop 65 warning from the stamp to meet California compliance standards. These improvements ensure a cleaner, more unified look while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
