Wondering about Load Ratings for Unistrut Fittings? We can help.....
The other day, we fielded a question regarding load capacities of a 3-hole, 90 degree fitting (Unistrut P1346). Since we get these types of questions now and then, we decided to share our answer with our loyal Tech Talk readers.
Unistrut fitting loads are dependent on a few different things:
- Channel thickness
- Fitting position on channel
- Where the load is being applied
Channel thickness refers to the gauge of the channel. Gauges range from 12 to 16. Common channel gauge examples are P1000 being 12 gauge, P1100 is 14 gauge and P2000 is 16 gauge. In the screen shot below, you will notice the different gauges listed in relation to weight load in pounds with 12 gauge being the strongest.
Position of the fitting on the channel and load application placement are shown in the screen shot below. Both fittings are a P1026 but as you can see, the load allowance changes based on where the fitting is located and where the load is being applied.
Below are more examples of design load data for typical Unistrut channel connections. Further design load data can be found in our Unistrut General Engineering Catalog .
